Christy Mack was confronted and beaten by Jonathan Koppenhaver. They had dated before, however, were now broken up. Koppenhaver is an MMA fighter who fights under the name War Machine. One morning, at 2am, Koppenhaver arrived at her home and attacked Mack. She had a friend over that night, too and the friend was also beaten. Koppenhaver tortured Mack with a knife and beat her over and over again. There are gruesome pictures in this article depicting what was done to her.
Mack was hit so many times she could not remember all the hits. She ended up with 18 broken bones and is missing teeth. She cannot chew or see out of her left eye. If she did not somehow miraculously escape, she most likely would have died. Mack said that he had beaten her before this incident, but never this bad.
This article scared me. It is insane to think there are people who would do such a thing in this world. Abuse is a very serious thing and this incident shows what it can lead to. Luckily, Mack was able to survive, but Koppenhaver almost killed her. I hope he eventually faces consequences for what he did. This situation just makes me wonder why anyone would stay with someone who beats them.
