Modern Love

I feel like what love means to me is a lot different than how media and pop culture represent love and dating.  Love to me is more than just hooking up with someone at a party.  It means a lot more than that.  It is not just about physical attraction, but personality and beliefs, too.  Love and dating is about your connection with the other person.  I feel like media and pop culture represent love and dating as something that is very simple when its not at all.  For the most part, it is portrayed as a man and woman dating or married and that's it.  Also, everything on television and in movies is portrayed so much differently than it is actually is in real life.  For the most part, love on television or in movies is just not realistic.  It is exaggerated to get people to watch.
Dating has changed a lot in the past 5-10 years.  It has grown far away from what was considered normal dating.   I just do not really believe in it.  I want to be able to meet my future wife in person, not on a website.  I do not think there is anything wrong in meeting someone this way, but it is just not for me.  I want to be able to tell my kids the story of how I met their mother.  I would rather have this story happen in person.  I want love at first sight, not at first click.  Maybe in the future my view about online dating will change, but right now I am not going to sway.  Online dating may become more dominant over time, but I will prefer meeting someone in person.

  1. Hi Zach,

I definitely agree with what you said about not wanting to meet your future wife online. I do not want to meet my husband online either. I do, however, disagree with love at first sight. I just believe it does not exist. How can you love someone without knowing anything about them? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, though, especially about love, since it is such a personal thing.
